Robert Paulmenn

Robert was born in 1950. He graduated from the duCret School of Art in Plainfield N.J. where he studied painting and sculpture. Although sculpture, and in particular wood carving, captured his youthful enthusiasm, he would find a short time later, while painting scenery for a regional musical theater company in New Jersey, that even though painting presented him with a greater challenge, at the same time it also offered him greater rewards.

In 1980, he moved to New York City and attended the Art Students League and the National Academy of Art, where he had the good fortune to study with Daniel Greene, Harvey Dinnerstein and Ron Sher.

Although he will paint anything that interests him, his main focus has always been painting portraits and the figure. Not only is he dealing with color and composition, as with any other painting, but there is the added dimension of the subject and the ever changing moods that the sitter brings each session.
